Job Description

The County of Bruce is recruiting for the Director of Health Services. Under the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Health Services provides strategic and operational leadership to the Department of Health Services (Long Term Care and Paramedic Services). Bruce County operates two Long Term Care facilities and provides Paramedic Services. The Director provides strategic guidance, operational and financial leadership and ensures quality assurance and compliance with all regulatory and legislative requirements under the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. The position works out of the County Administration office located in Walkerton, Ontario.

Minimum Qualifications · Degree in Health, Business and/or Social Services from a recognized post-secondary institution. · Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in Long Term Care, Paramedic Services or a related field. · Proven strategic leadership experience within a multidisciplinary department. · Demonstrated experience in long term care or paramedic services with a thorough awareness of applicable legislation. · Proven advanced critical thinking skills. · Advanced financial analysis and business case acumen, including operational and capital budgeting. · Solid understanding of business planning processes and business metrics. · Experience in risk management activities and demonstrated knowledge of continuous quality improvement processes. · Experience working in a unionized environment and interpreting, understanding and managing multiple collective agreements. · Bruce County operates with Microsoft Office Suite: the candidate of choice must have a demonstrated comfort with various software packages. · Current Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening with results acceptable to the County.
