Job Description

The Executive Manager, Paramedic Service is a key member of the Hamilton Paramedic Service senior leadership team with responsibility to provide logistics, administration, budget and operational support activities for a large land ambulance service performing more than 84,000 responses per year. Providing close support to the Chief and working collaboratively with two Deputy Chiefs, the Executive Manager will closely liaise with a variety of City of Hamilton corporate functions to support the operational needs of the service

Proven competence in time management, interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentations, negotiations, and developing and maintaining positive internal and external relationships; proven competence in analytical skills, conflict resolution, deployment process and emergency communication systems A University degree in a related discipline such as Business, Accounting/Financial Management, Logistics or equivalent combination of education and related work experience, with progressively responsible management experience preferably in emergency services. Professional designation (P Log, CA, CGA, CMA) would be an asset. Comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated experience with budget and procurement processes and controls in a large corporate organization. Demonstrated ability to exercise superior judgment, tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and complex situations. General knowledge of paramedic services, emergency health services, emergency communications systems, emergency planning, occupational health and safety, and related legislation. Proficient computer skills for the utilization of standard Microsoft Office products at an advanced level. Demonstrated ability to use MS Project, MS Access, and Visio would be an asset. Ability to fulfil standard employment requirements including completion of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check, possession of or ability to obtain a Class “F” licence or equivalent, satisfactory driving record as demonstrated through an abstract search, and possess or be able to obtain a current CPR Health Care Provider certificate and a Current First Aid certificate.
