Reporting to the Chief/Director, Hamilton Paramedic Service, the Manager/Deputy Chief, Planning, Staff Development & Community Response will be responsible for effective and efficient daytoday delivery of ambulance services. You will manage and oversee various support programs that include Paramedic Emergency Health Care Services, Community Paramedicine Programs & Neighbourhood Initiatives. You will provide leadership to a staff of Commanders, Superintendents, Paramedics & Support Staff.
Proven competence managing in a fastpaced ever changing environment with strong problem solving skills with an innovative solutionsoriented approach. Demonstrated success in leading an organization through periods of significant change contributing to positive changes in culture and employee engagement. Progressive experience supervising unionized staff, managing operational units and coordinating quality improvements programs ideally in EMS and in a unionized environment using proactive management skills. University degree in a related field preferable a Master’s Degree in Health or Business Administration or equivalent education and related experience. Progressive management experience in the EMS/Health Care Field. Will possess and maintain advanced EMCA status and all applicable qualifications for Paramedics in Ontario as determined by MOHLTC. At minimum maintain Primary Care Paramedic certification with the local base hospital and able to be certified within 120 days of being hired. Highly developed skills in labour relations, negotiations and conflict resolution with the ability to develop positive internal and external relationships. Demonstrated ability to express ideas effectively, verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to exercise superior judgment, tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and complex time sensitive situations. Highly developed analytical and business planning skills with a proven track record for longterm visioning and big picture thinking. Demonstrated ability to articulate a vision, to lead and inspire others. Proven ability to make complex decisions both independently and collaboratively in a fiscally responsible manner.
