To provide emergency medical care to the residents of Norfolk County. Knowledge and Skill: • Successful completion of a diploma in Emergency Care/Paramedicine from a Community College in Ontario. • EMCA or A-EMCA certified by the Ministry of Health. • Certification as a Primary Care Paramedic in the Province of Ontario, (Regulation 257/00), including current certification in Symptom Relief and Defibrillation. • Possess CPR certificate. • Norfolk County Paramedic Services requires proof of a valid successful Ottawa Paramedic Physical Abilities Test (OPPAT) document completed from June 1, 2018 or ability to obtain prior to recruitment process completion. • Possess and maintain all qualifications as specified under the Ambulance Act and Regulations. • Up to six (6) months of related experience. • Ability to exert heavy physical effort required to treat and move patients, deliver medical equipment or sort inventory at station and in ambulance. • Possess and maintain a valid Class “F” Driver’s Licence. • Must be flexible to work days, evenings and/or weekends.
Skills and Abilities: • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing. • The ability to exercise sound judgment in emergency situations. • Courteous and effective skills in dealing with the public. • Candidates will be required to obtain local base hospital certification as a condition of a job offer.
