Five paramedics honoured with Ontario Medal for Bravery

26 May Five paramedics honoured with Ontario Medal for Bravery

We’re thrilled to announce that the Ontario government has presented five paramedics from across the province with the prestigious Ontario Medal for Paramedic Bravery.

The medals were given out at a special ceremony held at the Royal Ontario Museum. The paramedics were honoured for their extraordinary acts of bravery, such as rescuing a drowning man from deep water while off-duty, saving victims from being mauled by an aggressive dog without any protective equipment, preventing a potentially armed individual from fleeing an accident until police arrived and rescuing a resident from a burning building.

“Every day, Ontario’s heroic paramedics risk their lives in the service of their communities,” said Minister Sylvia Jones. “The courage displayed by this year’s recipients represents the very best of Ontario and I am honoured to present this year’s recipients with the Ontario Medal for Paramedic Bravery.”

OAPC President Greg Sage also extends his commendations: “Congratulations to this year’s recipients of the Ontario Medal for Paramedic Bravery. Paramedics frequently place themselves at risk in the course of their duties. The paramedics being recognized this year went above and beyond by risking their lives to save others. The Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs gives thanks to all paramedics across the province who serve 24/7. We are inspired by the heroism and selfless actions undertaken by this year’s recipients.”

Congratulations to the paramedics who have received this recognition. Your stories are a testament to your commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
