16 Oct Road to Mental Readiness (R2MR)- Train the Trainer Course
To all Members:
Oxford County Paramedic Services(OCPS) is pleased to partner with the Mental Health Commission of Canada as hosts of an upcoming Road to Mental Readiness -Train the Trainer Course. Road to Mental Readiness, better known to most as R2MR is very quickly becoming the gold ticket training for first responders in support of Peer Support teams and in house mental health education. R2MR is a course that trains first responders to recognize changes in their own mental health, as well as help them become more resilient.
The Train the Trainer course is a 5 day course that provides individuals the skills, tools, and training required to deliver the R2MR course to their staff, students, peers, and support staff in house. The course focuses on the Mental Health Continuum Model and the “Big 4” which includes positive self- talk, visualization, tactical breathing, and SMART goal setting.
OCPS would like to extend the invite to educators and/or peer support teams and individuals that would be interested in joining us. The course caters to anyone in the field of first response which includes Paramedics, Police, Fire, Corrections, CACC/Dispatch, Base Hospital Educators, College Faculty, Public Health, Hospital Staff (ER/ICU), CMHA and CBSA.
Below, you will find details on the course, as well as an overview FAQ sheet for the R2MR course and a R2MR trainer selection process. As the year is coming to an end quickly, we know that time constraints are in place for most of you. Please note that we are hosting the course from Dec 4-8, 2017 at our headquarters in Woodstock, Ontario. If this is something you are interested in joining, please provide a firm commitment by October 23, 2017.
The cost of the full course per person will be a competitive $2900 inclusive of taxes and hot lunch provided daily.
There are plenty of options for hotel accommodations in Woodstock to support your time here with us. We would be happy to provide you will special pricing if required.
