Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Deputy Chief of Operations, the Commander is responsible for ensuring the EMS operational readiness for the City of Thunder Bay and the 14 Municipalities in the Thunder Bay District. A primary focus of this position is to provide oversight and support to the Superintendents and directly manage Paramedic Operations ensuring effective 911-service delivery complies with all relevant legislation, regulations and standards
Qualifications
• Degree in health, public service, business administration, management or other related discipline together with three years related experience; or • Diploma in health, public service, business administration, management or other related discipline together with five years related experience • Knowledge of Land Ambulance legislation, regulations, and current practices pertaining to training and quality assurance issues • Knowledge of the points of interaction and critical interface within the health care system; and • Experience in business management, planning, budgets, and finance • 5 years front line paramedic supervisory experience
