Reporting to the Chief/Director, Paramedic Services, this position requires a Degree in a Health Discipline with a minimum of five (5) years related paramedic management experience. Requires excellent decision making and problem solving skills within a fast paced, complex environment. Excellent leadership, communications, analytical problem solving, planning and project management skills are required. Accountable for the efficient and effective management of approved financial and human resources. Emergency preparedness/site management/incident management system training required. Must be familiar with MS Office Suite. An equivalent combination of education, experience and other qualifications may be considered. WORKING CONDITIONS: Periodic travel within Halton and Ontario is required and incumbent must supply their own transportation. DUTIES: • Directs assigned workforce including unionized paramedics, management and administrative staff to ensure the effective and safe utilization of program resources. • Responsible for day-to-day oversight of paramedic education, public education, continuous quality improvement activities, compliance with Ministry of Health standards, and community paramedic programs. • Responsible for the administration, development, monitoring and expenditure of approved program budget in accordance with Departmental and Corporate procedures, ensuring that all expenditures are within budgeted levels and reported on a regular and timely basis. • Develops implements and monitors divisional policy and procedures. • Monitors, analyzes, evaluates and reports on program activities. • Ensures the provision of responsive and appropriate pre-hospital care through on-going evaluation and analysis of patient care. • In the event of a major contingency or disaster, ensures paramedics respond in a coordinated manner. Participates as a member of Regional and local emergency control groups as required. • Manages various aspects of labour relations within assigned program including grievance, mediation and arbitration hearings. Participates in collective bargaining as required. • Responsible for providing and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction through timely and satisfactory investigation and resolution of inquiries and complaints. • Participates as a member of the Divisional Management Team. • Participates on committees/working groups as required. • Participates as duty manager through on-call rotation. • Performs other duties as assigned.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: The successful candidate will be made an offer of employment on condition that the Regional Municipality of Halton receives a current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Screen by the first day of employment.
