Qualifications

Successful completion of a diploma in Emergency Care/Paramedicine from an approved Paramedic Program; EMCA or A-EMCA certified by the Ministry of Health; Eligible for certification as a Primary Care Paramedic in the Province of Ontario, (Regulation 257/00); Possess valid BLS Provider / Health Care Providers CPR certificate within one year; Possess and maintain all qualifications as specified under the Ambulance Act and Regulations; Possess and maintain a valid Class “F” Driver’s Licence. Must have completed a valid OPPAT (Ottawa Paramedic Physical Abilities Test) within 6 Months of the posting closing, or obtained prior to April 1st 2021; Ability to exert heavy physical effort required to treat and move patients, deliver medical equipment or sort inventory at station and in ambulance; Must be flexible to work days, evenings and/or weekends; Up to six (6) months of related experience; Preference will be given to candidates with CPER or other approved base hospital certifications SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing; The ability to exercise sound judgment in emergency situations; Courteous and effective skills in dealing with the public; Candidates will be required to obtain local base hospital certification as a condition of a job offer.
