Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the PCPs are responsible for responding to requests for paramedic service and delivering medical care under the direction of the Base Hospital Medical Director to victims of accident/illness, ensuring safe transportation to receiving medical facilities, and assisting with the on-going care of the patient within the medical facility as may be required. Also, the PCP will maintain contact and comply with the direction from the Central Ambulance Communications Centre (CACC); liaise with allied agencies to collect and provide relevant information, complete required documentation, participate in mandatory annual training, maintain a state of readiness for all ambulances, and their equipment and supplies, stations, and other duties as may be assigned by the Operations Supervisor or Chatham-Kent EMS. This position requires your ability to comply with all articles within the collective agreement, specifically, appropriate availability. You will be required to work all shift patterns at all stations within Chatham-Kent, on a scheduled or call in basis, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week (days, nights, weekends, and holidays)
Applicants must meet all qualifications to work as a Primary Care Paramedic, as set out in the Ontario Ambulance Act and its Regulations, and as established by Chatham-Kent EMS from time to time, including: • Graduate of an approved College Paramedic Program; • Advanced Emergency Medical Care Assistant (A-EMCA) Certificate or Paramedic Students scheduled to write their A-EMCA examination (at the earliest opportunity in 2022); • Valid Ontario Class “F” Driver’s Licence or Equivalent to Class “F”; • Current Certification in CPR (Level of HCP); • Extensive working knowledge of the PCP Paramedic essential functions; • Diplomacy and interpersonal skills in dealing with difficult situations; • Champions professionalism and customer service; • Demonstrated team player, decision-maker, problem solver and exercise sound judgment in emergency situations;
