THE OPPORTUNITY: The Opportunity This role provides the effective assessment, treatment and transportation of patients to/from medical and/or other facilities throughout the District of Muskoka. The Paramedic is required to act in the capacity of either driver of the ambulance or attendant to the patient. WHAT YOU WILL DO: • Patient Care • Transport and transfer of patient • Equipment and station maintenance • Documentation management • Liaise with dispatch centres, base hospital staff, police, fire, and family members
Completion of a two (2) year Community College program in Emergency Health Care/ Para-medicine (EMCA) • Certified as a Primary Care Paramedic in Ontario • Meets all Ambulance Act and Ontario Regulation 257 requirements for employment • Valid CPR, Restricted Radio Operator’s license and all qualifications that meet legislated requirements • Proven knowledge of basic life-support medical care methods, procedures, techniques, and specifications related to Ambulance service, Base Hospital, equipment supplies, use of medications, vehicles and base stations • Working knowledge of the Ambulance Act and other related legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines • Class F driver’s license with clear driver’s abstract and clear Vulnerable Sector and Criminal record check report • Ability to physically provide patient care and transport • Preference may be given to applicants who are currently certified with Sunnybrook Regional Base Hospital.
