As a founding member of the Association of Municipal Emergency Medical Services of Ontario (AMEMSO), which is now the Ontario Association of Paramedic Services (OAPC) Richard served as president since it’s inception in 2000 to 2006 and served as a Zone Director for an additional 6 years thereafter.

 

Richard started his career in paramedicine in 1970 and retired in 2016, he served as a primary care paramedic, paramedic service manager, was a graduate of and the Assistant Director and Clinical Instructor of the first Advanced Care Paramedic program in Ontario, a Regional Manager for the Ministry of Health Emergency Health Services Branch for 25 years and finished his career as the Chief of Region of Durham Paramedic Services after 15 years. Richard served on a wide range of committees and working groups through out his career and is a strong advocate for the advancement of paramedicine both provincially and nationally. He is the recipient of the national Meritorious Service Medal and the Ontario Amethyst Award.
