Job Description

As a key member of the paramedic services team, the successful candidate will develop, lead, implement and evaluate a high quality, cost effective, responsible ambulance service, as defined by the Ambulance Act and Regulations. Reporting to the Chief/Director, RDPS, the incumbent will: - Develop, implement and revise operational service plans for the delivery of a performance-based emergency medical service program - Coach and lead the management team to ensure operational readiness and that services are maintained at peak performance levels - Determine the station and fleet specifications, ensuring response time standards and quality indicators are achieved - Ensure the supply and equipment inventory is maintained - Liaise with the Central Ambulance Communication Center, tiered response providers, ambulance service operators and administrative bodies to ensure the paramedic services operation continuously meets the service demands - Play a key role maintaining the Region's emergency response plan to ensure that paramedic services participates in a coordinated response in the event of a major contingency - Review and analyze call reports, current research and data to ensure that service demands are met, and associate risk is minimized - Participate in the development, monitoring and allocation of the divisional budget to ensure compliance with the approved budget fiscal control - Participate in the development and implementation of public outreach and marketing strategies to promote the paramedic operation - Provide oversight to Professional Standards and assist with investigation process as required - Provide coaching and mentoring opportunities for Commander positions specific to the Deputy role - Function as department lead on Provincial and Federal service reviews to ensure regulatory compliance See 'Download Job Listing PDF' for full details.

Qualifications

- Several years senior management experience in the ambulance service or related health care sector - Diploma in Emergency Care/Paramedicine from a College of Applied Arts and Technology combined with an Advanced Emergency Medical Care Assistant Certificate required; University degree in a relevant discipline is preferred - Current knowledge of legislation including the Land Ambulance Act and Regulations, Mandatory Health Programs and Services Guidelines, Highway Traffic Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act - Demonstrated strong leadership, coaching and strategic thinking competencies - Developed analytical and planning skills, strong communication and time management skills - Ontario Class 'G' Drivers licence as a minimum
